Desde mi ventana / From my window
La ventana, el balcón y la acera son espacios desde donde se intercambian miradas y percepciones. Aquí presento muchas de las fotos que inspiraron mi escritura y que posiblemente ayudarán a la lectura de la tesis. Cada galeria contiene fotos de La Habana y San Juan y no se limitan necesariamente a los barrios discutidos en en el texto (Centro Habana y El Vedado y Santurce y Río Piedras, prespectivamente). Al incluir fotos de barrios brevemente mencionados en el texto, intento completar la imagen de cada ciudad en el imaginario del lector. Muchas de estas fotos fueron tomadas durante mi estudio de campo y algunas otras durante mis caminatas por la ciudad.
The window, the balcony and the sidewalk are places were glances and impressions are exchanged in a matter of seconds. Here are the photos that inspired my writing and can possibly aid in the reading of the thesis. Each gallery contains photos of Havana and San Juan, not necessarily limited to the barrios featured in the text (Centro Habana and Vedado, and Santurce and Río Piedras, respectively). Instead, I have also included photos of other barrios mentioned in the text in order to enhance the map of each city in the reader's mind. Many of these photos were taken during my field work and some during my walks through the city.

This is the kitchen of a very small apartment (within a two-story house) in Río Piedras. The photo was taken in the very entrance (note the bared gate and the stove on the right) of the apartment. This is the frontier between Alto del Cabro and Miramar, both neighborhoods of Santurce. The building to the left is the Cosmopolitan, a luxury apartment building.
